天津黑利伯瑞国际学校每期都会为家长写信，来分享这一期校内发生的主要新闻和信息，这是2019-2020，第一学期，第13周给小学部家长的信：

Dear primary school parents and families,

亲爱的小学部家长们，

It has been another fruitful and exhilarating few weeks at the primary school in Tianjin.Quality in teaching and learning have always been priorities at Haileybury.Consequently,the school has established systems and procedures for ensuring academic success.As an international school,one of the ways this is done is through peer observations.In addition to being observed by the English coordinator and the Head of English,international teachers are also required to observe each other.Peer observation is an invaluable practice because everyone is endowed with special talents or experiences which others can learn from or emulate.One teacher’s strength may be in classroom management while another’s may be in the ability to form a lasting bond with students.Some teachers are able to silence a classroom without saying a single word while others are able to motivate the hardest heart.Whatever the case,it is evident that each teacher is unique and that much can be learnt by simply observing.Many of our international primary school teachers have been teaching for many years and some hold teaching licences from countries such as Australia and the US.International teachers will continue to observe each other so that good teaching practice can continue to be spread across the whole department.

这几周黑利伯瑞小学部硕果累累、收获颇丰。教学质量一直是黑利伯瑞的首要任务。因此，学校建立了确保学有所获的制度和体系。作为一所国际学校，方式之一是通过教师互听课。除了由英语年级负责人和英语部主任进行听课外，国际教师还必须相互听课。教师互听课是十分重要的，因为每个人都有自己独特的教学才能或经验，教师间可以相互学习或借鉴。一位教师的优势可能在于课堂管理，而另一位教师的优势可能在于与学生建立持久联系的能力。有些教师能一言不发就能使全班同学保持安静，而另一些教师则能激发所有同学的进取心。不管是什么情况，很明显每个老师都是独一无二的，只要听课就能学到很多东西。我们小学部的很多国际教师都有多年教学经验，持有澳大利亚和美国等国的教学许可证。国际教师将继续互相听课，以便良好的教学实践能够继续在整个学部内推广。

On the afternoon of the 8th of November,our primary school students participated in an anti-bullying campaign which was held in individual homerooms.The campaign was titled‘Say no to bullying at school’and it advocated for the preservation of human life and dignity through affirmative action.Our students were taught that bullying can involve physical assault but also verbal and emotional abuse.Students learnt about the shocking consequences of bullying through learning about real life incidences.One of these was the infamous case of eight-year-old student Gabriel Taye who took his life two days after being beaten unconscious by bullies in a school bathroom in 2017.Students also gained valuable insights by learning about the psychology of bullies.They were taught that bullies are usually self-centred.To combat bullying,our students were taught not to‘suffer in silence’but rather to report any instances of bullying to friends,teachers and parents.They were also advised not to walk alone and to ignore taunts.During the campaign,our students also spent time designing and drawing anti-bullying posters where they used their creativity to convey the anti-bullying message.There is no place for bullying at Haileybury so it is important that everyone plays their part to ensure that our students learn in a happy and safe environment.

11月8日下午，小学生参加了在教室举行的反欺凌活动。这项运动的标题是“在学校里对欺凌说不”，它主张通过行动维护人的生命和尊严。我们告诉学生，欺凌可能涉及身体攻击，但也包括语言和情感虐待。学生通过了解真实生活中的事件来了解欺凌的可怕后果。其中之一是臭名昭著的一件欺凌案。8岁学生加布里埃尔·泰伊（Gabriel Taye）2017年在学校的一个浴室被恶霸殴打昏迷两天后死亡。通过学习欺负者的心理，学生们也有了自己的见解。他们知道了，欺负者通常是以自我为中心。为了打击欺凌，我们告诉学生不要“默默忍受”，而是向朋友、老师和家长报告任何欺凌事件。我们建议学生不要独自行走，也不要忽视嘲笑。在活动期间，学生们设计和绘制了反欺凌海报，利用他们的创造力来传达反欺凌的概念。黑利伯瑞是一个没有欺凌的地方，我们每个人都要发挥自己的作用，以确保我们的学生在一个快乐和安全的环境中学习。
